We strive for sustainable development, by which we mean development that is ecologically, socially and economically sustainable. This business ethic is to guide Söderenergi in its contact with public authorities, in its purchasing of fuels, goods and services, and in its sale of products, goods and services. Our ethical guidelines, which are based on the UN Global Compact’s three sustainability principles, apply to both Swedish and foreign partners.
Söderenergi’s ethical guidelines
- Söderenergi is to strive to maintain an open and frank dialogue with its stakeholders.
- All forms of nepotism, bribery and corruption are prohibited, as is unlawful price collusion or cartels and all other forms of illegal activity.
- Söderenergi supports and respects international conventions on human rights.
- No form of discrimination on grounds of ethnic or national origin, skin colour, gender, sexual orientation, religion or political opinion is allowed.
- No form of forced labour or other forms of involuntary labour are allowed.
- Child labour is prohibited. Employees and other staff must be at least 15 years of age or must have reached the age at which school attendance becomes compulsory, if this is above 15.
- The right of workers to organise themselves in worker organisations of their choice and to engage in collective bargaining must be respected. Workers’ representatives must not be subjected to discrimination and must be given the opportunity to discharge their assignments.
- Obligations towards employees under national laws and agreements on social protection are to be respected.
- Pay and other forms of remuneration must meet the requirements of national law, current agreements and generally accepted standards in the sector concerned.
- Suppliers are to operate in a safe, healthy and hygienic work environment.
- All fuels purchased are to be traceable. Forest fuels may only be purchased from suppliers fulfilling the certification requirements established by the FSC, the PEFC or the equivalent.
